introduction

    The Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University is consisted of the Division of Pharmacology of Faculty of Medicine and Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine. Currently it has 6 full-time professors, 5 full-time associate professors, 1 adjunct professor, 4 joint-appointed professors and 1 technician.

    The Department of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Medicine was established in February 1983. Initially, Professor Chang Wen-Chang served as the director of the department. In August 1978, in order to meet the needs of the development of National Cheng Kung University and the medical center, a master class of the Institute of Pharmacology was added. In the initial stage of its founding, the main purpose of the institute was to recruit graduate students to the master's degree program, to improve the national basic medical science research quality and cultivate professional medical science and technology talents.

    Thereafter, the department was consecutively directed by Professor Huang Jin-Ding (1990-1995), Professor Gean Po-Wu (1995-2001), director and section director; Professor Hsu Kuei-Sen (2002-2008); Professor Leu Tzeng-Hong (2008-2014) ; Professor Shen Meng-Ru (2014-2017); Professor Ben-Kuen Cheng (2017-2023). Since August 2023, the current director is Professor Yi-Ching Wang.

   In August 1981, in cooperation with the medical school, the pharmacology division of the doctoral program of the Institute of Basic Medicine was established and began to recruit doctoral students.

    The students of Master program is consisted of graduates from Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology. Over 30 years, with joint efforts of all teachers and students, we established a high-quality research environment and atmosphere, and a fruitful graduate program. Moreover, we dedicated to professional research, to establish role models for students while cultivating pharmacology professionals to serve our country while promoting pharmaceutical research and biotechnology industry.　　

    Our institute is located on the 8th floor of the research building of the Medical College of Chengxing Campus. It is consisted of the institute office, eleven offices of professors, four study-rooms for graduate students, eleven laboratories, two instrument rooms, and two rooms for cell culture, a laboratory for viral study, a washing room, a seminar room, a meeting room, covering a total area of ​​over 750 square meters.
