Admissons for International Students

Nationality

To be eligible to apply, applicants must qualify for legal international student status of the Ministry of Education's "Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan”, (For article, please see the appendix) and never once held the status of Overseas Chinese Student before at the point of application.

Applicants‘ Eligibility

A Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for Master’s programs

Length of Study

Graduate programs leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree require one to four years and two to seven years, respectively

Additional Requirements

  1. Language Proficiency

     Applicants are required to submit an English proficiency certificate at CEFR Level B2 or above. Applicants from English-speaking countries (Australia, Canada,         the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United States) are exempt

  2. Requirements Documents

  (1) Autobiography    (2) Study plan

Uploading Required Documents

Complete the “NCKU Degree Application for International Students system” online and upload the following required documents:

  1. Declaration Form
  2. Autobiography (in English or Chinese)
  3. Study Plan
  4. The highest degree diploma (in Chinese or English)
  5. The highest degree of official transcripts by years (in Chinese or English)
  6. Two recommendation letters
  7. Financial statement
  8. Identification documents (ID card / Passport / ROC Alien Resident Certificate / the certificate of ROC Non-Household Registration/ other credentials) 
  9. Language proficiency certificate
  10. Academic thesis or relevant academic publications (for PH.D. applicants)
  11. Additional supporting documents (e.g., additional materials required by the department/institute or other reference documents)
  12. Complete the application fee payment or receipt of payment

★Upon admission into the program all students are required to complete a minimum of 24 units in science and 6 units in  composition. Students are expected to complete their program at the end of the second year, but exceptions can be granted for  students who need extensions. Extensions are not granted beyond the fourth year after matriculation.

★Students that achieve grades in the top one-third of the first academic year can be considered for PhD Candidacy with the recommendation of their academic advisor.
